Have you heard the phrase ‘top of mind’? It’s when something takes up the prime spot in your thoughts, without you having to work hard to remember it. It’s a mental priority, basically.
In theory, your goals and dreams will often be top of mind because they’re so important to you. In reality, however, there are many other things jostling for that top-of-mind spot – schoolwork, how you’re feeling physically and emotionally, chores and relationships with friends, to name just a few.
This is normal. (In fact, it would be pretty boring to only ever think about one thing.) But when your goals get consistently bumped down the list of mental priorities, you can lose sight of them altogether.
So, how can you keep your goals top of mind, while still making mental space for everything else? You could try creating a vision board. Acting as a visual map of your hopes and dreams, your vision board can be made up of pictures, words, quotes or whatever else reminds you of your goals. Put it somewhere prominent, like on your bedroom wall, and it’ll serve as a daily reminder of things you’d like to achieve.
Keeping your goals top of mind is great, but a vision board can also help you feel inspired and energised. Fill yours with things you love and, in return, it’ll fill you with excitement about the future.
